Finest Friday

Terrence Dixon is one of Detroit techno's most idiosyncratic and enigmatic producers, his output defying the usual expectations of electronic club music. His productions are to be regarded as conceptual sonic architecture: reduced, brittle, contemplative. Since the early 90s, he has pursued an uncompromising artistic trajectory that consistently distances himself from the zeitgeist, largely avoiding publicity, with interviews few and far between and only a shadowy presence on social media. His tracks on labels such as Rush Hour, Tresor and Axis do not follow a classic dramaturgy, rather created from fragments. Loops, throbbing sub-bass and off-kilter synth patterns combine to create a kind of technoid alien jazz. His live set is sure to be a highlight at tonight's edition of Finest Friday at Panorama Bar.
