Klubnacht

My Own Shadow is the name of Marcel Dettmann's new project, and this will also be the basis for his live act at Klubnacht in der Säule. It's all about a raw, stripped-down aesthetic – a mixture of dark textures, hypnotic loops and a rather introspective energy. Working with modular sounds, field recordings and live processing, he will create a structure that is as organic and fluid as possible. No fixed arrangements, but a set that evolves in the moment. VIL is the alias of the Portuguese artist Nuno Costa, who has attracted attention in recent years with his productions on Hayes, Klockworks and Planet Rhythm. As Sinner, he founded the local crew Warface at the beginning of his DJ career, which focused on dubstep, drum 'n' bass and UK garage. In 2013, he launched VIL, focusing mainly on techno, electro, breaks and house, and five years later he founded the collective and label Hayes along with other Portuguese acts. His debut album Birds of Prey, released in November on Steffi's label Dolly, offers an original mix of raw, percussive, groovy house and techno with an elegant Detroit flavor. VIL is playing at Berghain tonight.
