Belgian techno producer Peter Van Hoesen is releasing his new album Towards the centre of time and surrounded by spirits in early March via Brussels label Vlek. Van Hoesen, currently living in Ho Chi Min, adds crystalline bleeps and obscure industrial sounds to his dense, purist techno. With ten years since his last album, his sound design remains more futuristic and otherworldly than almost anything else out there, and for this weekend's Klubnacht, he will present his work in a live set – the way he plays exclusively. One floor up sees a focus on US-American DJs with Daniel Bell, Magda and Mike Servito, who have each helped shape different decades of minimalist dance music. In the early 90s, Bell fused alarming 303s with the brutal stomp of European hardcore as half of Cybersonik along with Richie Hawtin; as DBX, he released completely skeletonized techno-funk tracks, creating one of the most morbid dancefloor hits of his generation 30 years ago with “Losing Control”. In the 00s, he pared down his sound even further and went in a housier direction, including projects such as the minimal supergroup Narod Niki, but Bell has remained true to his musical integrity to this day. This time, the Panorama Bar regular will be playing an extended closing set for the first time.
