THE WAVE PICTURES

Ein Jahr nach dem wunderbaren Doppelalbum City Forgiveness melden sich Jonny Helm, Dave Tattersall und Franic Rozycki aka THE WAVE PICTURES mit einem neuen Langspielr zurück. Great Big Flamingo Burning Moon erscheint im Februar bei Moshi Moshi, 13 neue Stücke stark. Unterstützt wurden sie bei den Aufnahmen von Tausendsassa Billy Childish, der den Klang des Albums deutlich geprägt hat. „We first met Billy in his painting studio in Chatham. It's daunting to meet your heroes, but he was great – just chatting away in his overalls and beret. Everything from that point on seemed so easy and so exciting. Billy is inspired. He knows exactly what he's doing“, so Dave Tattersall. Bei den Aufnahmen kam ausschließlich Equipment von Childish zum Einsatz, so z.B. seine 60s Selmer Amps oder sein 60s Drum Kit. Obwohl die Band schon seit 16 Jahren existiert und zahlreiche Alben veröffentlicht hat, waren die Aufnahmen zum neuen Material doch eine ganz neue und großartige Erfahrung: „[Billy] was a joy to work with and we love the record. It was the most fun we've ever had making a record and to us it's the most exciting sounding thing we've ever done.“
