Der zwischen Köln und Brooklyn, New York City pendelnde Tom Krell war eine der großen musikalischen Überraschungen des letzten Jahres – Philosophiestudent bei Tag, Schlafzimmerproduzent bei Nacht. »Love Remains« kombinierte niedertourige Popmusik und Spätneunziger R&B mit hallendem Falsettgesang – was How To Dress Well wegen des ätherischen und transparentem Gesamtklangs des Albums eine hohe Platzierung in etlichen Jahresendlisten einbrachte. Bei BUTTERCLOCK handelt es sich um das Dark Pop- bzw. Gothic R&B-Projekt von Laura Clock, alles begann mit dem Soft Blood Kids-Kollektiv in Nevada. Die tiefe Verehrung von schmutzigen Beats, Chorgesang, Eis und Schlamm, Sylvia Plath und Soulja Boy führt die Amerikanerin als Inspiration an. Tom Krell divides his time between Cologne and Brooklyn, and was one of the big surprises of 2010. A philosophy student by day, a home-spun producer by night, his album »Love Remains« is a strange combination of low definition pop, R&B from the early 1990s and reverberating falsettos that ended up in quite a few best of the year lists thanks to its ethereal and diaphanous character. BUTTERCLOCK is the Dark Pop/Gothic R&B music outlet of Laura Clock. lt all started with the soft blood kids collective somewhere in Nevada.
